Personal Brand Image — Groundwork Questionnaire

Let’s get to know the person behind the image.

Before I look at colours, clothes, photographs or your online presence, I want to understand you: your work, personality, goals, current image and how you want to be perceived.

There are no right answers. Don’t overthink it — instinctive answers are often the most useful. This groundwork means our consultation can go deeper rather than spending time covering the basics.

Time: approximately 10–15 minutes.

1. You + Your Brand

What do you do?
Tell me about your work, business, creative roles or the different things you’re known for. If you have several roles, put them in order of importance right now.

Who do you most want to attract or communicate with?
Clients, students, audiences, employers, collaborators, event organisers, professional network, dating/personal — or somebody else?

What would you most like your personal image and online presence to do better for you?
For example: attract clients, generate bookings, build credibility, create opportunities, make you more recognisable, promote your work, feel more current, or better represent who you are now.

If you have more than one social profile, business or professional identity, what is the purpose of each?
Please paste the links or @handles and tell me what you believe each one should communicate.

2. How You Want to Be Seen

Give me 3–5 words describing how you WANT people to perceive you.
Examples: confident, creative, professional, approachable, established, sophisticated, relaxed, masculine/feminine, sexy, authoritative, artistic, premium, playful.

Now give me 3–5 words for how you think your current image comes across.

Do you feel your current image and social media reflect the level you’re actually at?
Yes / partly / not really / I honestly don’t know 😂
If not, what feels missing or outdated?

When somebody sees a photograph of you without reading your name, what would you ideally like them to think or understand about you?

3. Your Personal Style

How do you feel about your personal style at the moment?
A. I know my style and like it.
B. I basically know what I like but need direction.
C. I wear what’s easy and don’t think about it much.
D. I genuinely don’t know what suits me. 😂

When do you find dressing most difficult?
Work / client meetings / teaching / performing / events / content & photos / going out / dates / everyday life / other.

What clothes or outfits make you feel MOST like yourself?
Describe them or send photos after completing the questionnaire.

What do you repeatedly buy but then not really wear?
Think colours, shirts, trousers, shoes, particular fits or styles.

Is there anything you absolutely DON’T want me to turn you into? 😂
Too corporate? Too fashionable? Too polished? Too young? Too serious? Too colourful? Too Instagram? Something else?

How interested are you in clothes, realistically?
A. I enjoy clothes and want to develop my style.
B. I want to look good but don’t want to think about it too much.
C. Just tell me what works and make it easy. 😂

4. Your Visual World

Are there people whose style, image or personal branding you think is really strong?
They don’t need to look like you. Send names, links or screenshots — I’m interested in what you’re visually drawn to.

How expressive do you want your image to be?
1 = very safe / understated    5 = highly expressive / distinctive

If you have several roles or brands, should they feel:
A. Like one recognisable overall identity.
B. Different, but clearly connected.
C. Quite separate.
D. I have no idea — that’s your job 😂

5. The Gap + The Goal

What feels like the biggest problem right now?
Knowing what suits me / colours / clothes / wardrobe / grooming / photographs / social media image / personal brand / connecting different roles or businesses / confidence / visibility / other.

Imagine we fast-forward six months and this has worked brilliantly.
Someone discovers you for the first time. What do you want them to immediately understand about you — and what would you ideally like them to do next?

What is the ONE thing about your image or online presence you would most like me to fix?
Don’t give me the sensible answer. What actually annoys you? 😂

6. What to Send Me

After completing your answers, please send me:

  • 3–5 recent, unfiltered photographs in natural daylight.
  • 3–5 outfit photographs that show what you normally wear.
  • A few photographs where you think you look particularly good.
  • A few where you don’t feel the image represents you well.
  • Your relevant social/profile/website links.
  • 3–5 inspiration images, profiles or screenshots you’re drawn to.

What happens next?

I’ll review your answers before our Personal Brand Image Consultation. We’ll identify the gap between who you are, how you’re currently showing up and how you actually want to be seen — then I’ll translate that into your personal style and visual brand direction.

Your personal brand should enhance you. It shouldn’t invent you.
